Overview of Duties/Responsibilities This position is located in Grovetown, Georgia and integrated into a new Medical Office Building (MOB), adjacent to the new Columbia County hospital.
Within the MOB, the psychiatrist will work alongside a clinical health psychologist, an addiction medicine trained internist, and a team of primary care physicians, obstetricians, and other medical subspecialists.
This is a full-time 40 hour per week position, with time allocated to the provision of outpatient psychiatric services.
In this clinic setting, new patient appointments are 60 minutes and follow-up appointments 30 minutes.
The psychiatrist will benefit from the support of a licensed practical nurse (LPN) or medical assistant (MA) to room patients, take vital signs, and assist in other ancillary clinical tasks.
The psychiatrist will primarily conduct clinical interviews, develop treatment plans, and provide medication management, including long-acting injectables (LAI) when needed. (S)He will document all patient encounters using Epic, Wellstar’s electronic health record.
In addition to primary clinical responsibilities, the psychiatrist will participate in treatment team and practice operations meetings and intermittently consult with Wellstar’s suicide prevention case managers or other clinical support services to aid in the care and safety of patients.
The ideal candidate is one who is team-oriented, possessing a commitment to collaboration, active listening skills, the ability to communicate clearly and effectively, and strong decision-making acumen. (S)He should have an unwavering commitment to quality and patient safety and should be comfortable working with adults across the lifespan with various psychiatric conditions.
Given the increased relevance of offering virtual care, the psychiatrist should be technologically savvy, able to manage the challenges and connectivity issues that sometimes arise through virtual care. (S)He should display patience with individuals who are unfamiliar with technology and maintain emotional flexibility to manage the nuances associated with delivering virtual healthcare.
