The role involves performing laboratory procedures, requiring the ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail while determining proper specimen container and storage. Technicians must also use analytical skills to assess the appropriateness of laboratory orders and communicate effectively with physicians and other personnel.
A minimum requirement is an Associate degree in a laboratory science or medical laboratory technology, or an official military medical laboratory procedures course of at least 50 weeks duration with the corresponding specialty. Candidates must be ASCP registered or eligible as an MLT and possess strong analytical and interpersonal skills.
Minimum Education Requirement: Associate degree in a laboratory science, or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution
OR Official military medical laboratory procedures course of at least 50 weeks duration and holds/held the military enlisted occupational specialty of Medical Laboratory Specialist.
Relevant experience preferred. Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail. Analytical skills necessary in order to determine proper specimen container and storage. Interpersonal skills necessary in order to communicate effectively with physicians and various other personnel.
