The Diagnostic Medical Sonographer operates ultrasound equipment under physician supervision to visualize internal anatomical structures and medical conditions, ensuring proper patient positioning and accurate test procedure execution. Responsibilities include recording diagnostic data, notifying physicians of critical findings immediately, and maintaining equipment and supply stock.
Candidates must have successfully completed diagnostic medical sonographer academic work and clinical training, possessing at least one year of experience in a clinical setting as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer. Required credentials include current CPR certification and ARDMS registration, along with meeting state-specific licensure requirements.
The DIAGNOSTIC MEDICAL SONOGRAPHER (Ultrasound Technologist) operates ultrasound equipment under the supervision of a doctor to reveal internal, anatomical structures and medical conditions that cannot be captured by x-rays. Sonographers may specialize in examining specific areas of the body, for example: echocardiographers (heart), eco- encephalographers (brain), obstetrical/gynecological sonographers, and vascular technologists.

Day 5x8-Hour (07:30 - 16:00)
Facility: Medstar Washington Hospital Center at 110 Irving St NW Washington, DC 20010
Successful completion of diagnostic medical sonographer academic work and clinical training. Length of training depends on level: certificate, associate, or bachelor's degree.
State specific; American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) exam and registration.
At least one year of experience as Diagnostic Medical Sonographer in a clinical setting.
Current CPR; and other health and screening tests as required by specific facilities and/or regulatory Agencies; ARDMS registration.
Various client facility settings; possible exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and other potentially infectious materials.
