Under the direction of the Radiologist and/or DI Administration, the Radiologic Technologist (X-Ray Tech), performs professional duties. which involve a variety of technical procedures to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for radiological diagnosis. The position will also assist physicians in selection of practical application and technical factors.

Responsibilities:
Perform a variety of radiographic, mammographic, and fluoroscopic exams with mobile and stationary equipment as approved.
Set, adjust, manipulate, control and maintain a variety of complex electronic equipment to apply ionizing radiation to patients for diagnosis of disease using proper KVP, MA, exposure time and focal film distance.
Practice radiation protection techniques, using beam restrictive devices, patient shielding skills, and knowledge of applicable exposure factor, to minimize radiation to patient, staff and self.
Explain the procedure to the patient. Instruct and assist patient in assuming physical position for exam.
Assist physicians in administering prescribed contrast media.
Radiographer Education and Experience Requirements
Completion of a 2-year approved Radiological Technology Program required.
Current license in the State of Connecticut required.

Approved vein puncture and lab procedures according to the Laboratory policies, if applicable, is preferred.
Approved computer registration according to the Admitting policies, if applicable, is preferred.
Minimum of 1-year practical experience performing related duties as a radiographer is preferred.
Radiographer Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
High degree of technical aptitude with an in-depth knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
Knowledge of computer keyboard, programs and menus.
