The technician will be responsible for collecting blood specimens from various patient settings, verbally reporting critical test results, and instructing patients on specimen handling. Duties also include performing legal blood draws, urine drug collections, breath alcohol testing, and utilizing computer and clerical skills.
Candidates must have completed a medical assistant school program or possess 6 to 12 months of phlebotomy training and specimen collection experience. Required credentials include a valid Pennsylvania driver's license and BLS certification, which must be obtained within one month of hiring.
