The Cardiology Nurse Practitioner will manage perioperative cardiac clearances for orthopedic surgical patients, including overseeing weight management to meet preoperative BMI targets, while partnering with an on-site Preventative Cardiologist. Key duties involve performing cardiac risk assessments, reviewing various cardiac imaging and test reports, ensuring timely clearances, and conducting comprehensive patient evaluations and treatment planning.
The role requires a Nurse Practitioner to maintain a patient treatment schedule, perform detailed cardiac risk assessments, and interpret diagnostic data including EKGs and stress tests to facilitate surgical clearances. Responsibilities also include obtaining complete medical histories, performing physical exams, advising on health prevention, and instructing patients on medication and treatment procedures.
OrthoArizona is seeking a Cardiology Nurse Practitioner to manage perioperative cardiac clearances for orthopedic surgical patients to include weight management to achieve BMI targets preoperatively. The clinic is currently staffed with a Preventative Cardiologist who will be an integral partner and resource for the Cardiac NP role.

Maintain a patient treatment schedule consistent with the needs of the Physician.
Perform cardiac risk assessments and/or bariatric weight management
Review EKGs, echo reports, stress tests to include PET Stress and Nuclear Spect imaging
Ensure timely cardiac clearances to reduce surgical delays
Obtain complete medical history and physical data on patients.
Review patient medical records.
Interpret and integrate data to determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as needed.
Perform complete physical exam and records findings.
Establish presumptive diagnosis.
Order appropriate lab and diagnostic procedures.
Advise patients regarding health and illness prevention.
Recommend community resources to help patient and family needs.
Instruct patient and family regarding medication and treatment procedures.
Assist physicians in recording patient progress.
Issue diagnostic orders.
Triage patient phone calls.
Provide on call services on assigned basis.
Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
Observe policies regarding time off and calling in sick.
Prioritize work activities based on clinical demands.
Demonstrate behavior that protects the safety of self/others and of the facility and equipment.
This role is Monday – Friday. No on-call coverage, no weekends
