The primary responsibilities involve drawing blood, processing specimens, reporting test results, analyzing patient samples for transfusion services, and maintaining laboratory equipment and facilities.
Candidates must possess a degree from an accredited 2 or 4-year college and completion of an accredited Medical Technology or MLT program, along with two years of phlebotomy and specimen processing experience in a hospital setting. Registration as a technologist or technician (ASCP preferred) is required, or eligibility with passing the exam within the first year.
