The Medical Laboratory Scientist performs routine and specialized laboratory tests for disease diagnosis and treatment, utilizing requisite equipment and computer systems while evaluating and reporting patient results independently. They are also responsible for quality control, assisting in procedure development, and training new staff members.
Candidates must possess a minimum of 2 years of clinical laboratory experience in a moderate and/or high complexity testing environment, with Blood Bank and Meditech Lab experience being preferred. A Bachelor's degree in clinical laboratory science or Medical Technology, or an Associate's degree in Medical Laboratory Technology, is required, along with ASCP or NCA certification.
