The Orthoptist is responsible for accurately and efficiently performing advanced data collection functions as delegated by the physician to support proper diagnosis of patient conditions, while also assisting in the training and mentoring of less experienced clinical staff. Essential duties include performing diagnostic and therapeutic assessments for conditions like strabismus and amblyopia, and developing treatment plans in coordination with the referring Ophthalmologist.
Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent, and preferably a BA or BS degree, along with American Orthoptic Council certification; COT/COMT certification is preferred. Key attributes include strong communication, organization, analytical problem-solving skills, and the ability to work empathetically as a team member.
