Major
Responsibilities: Responsible for providing dental hygiene services to patients in Community Dentistry and the Private Timeshare dental group 1)Provides and records in the patient’s dental file, the following therapeutic and preventative procedures: supra and subgingival calculus and stain removal, polishing of teeth and restorations and application of chemical compounds that have the approval of the American Dental Association as desensitizing agents or as effective agents in the prevention of dental caries. 2)Educates patients in proper nutrition in the prevention of dental caries 3)Recommends and provides instruction in appropriate oral hygiene items in the prevention of dental disease. 4)Exposes and processes xrays of the teeth for diagnostic purposes. 5)Sharpens and maintains all hygiene instruments, as needed. - Recall System 1)Maintains and coordinates a recall system for all hygiene patients. 2)Follows-up and contacts overdue hygiene patients in keeping the schedule as full as possible.
Education/Experience
Required: Graduation from an accredited dental hygiene program in the United States.

Conditions: Ability to function independently and use good judgement in managing the dental hygiene needs of the patients. If position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 06/01/2015. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available.
