The Youth Peer Specialist supports young adults (ages 16-21) by sharing lived mental health/addictions experience to foster hope, resiliency, and self-advocacy skills, while working with the clinical team on critical domains of functioning. Primary functions include providing peer support, coordinating community outreach, modeling coping techniques, and assisting clients in setting and achieving personal recovery goals through individual and group sessions.
Minimum requirements include a High School Diploma or GED, demonstrated lived experience with mental illness or child welfare systems, and the ability to obtain Certified Peer Specialist certification. Candidates must also possess a valid Driver License, meet insurability requirements for driving, and endorse a recovery-oriented approach to service delivery.
