The role involves performing diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine studies, including computerized nuclear cardiology procedures, while maintaining unit operations on the assigned shift. Responsibilities also include preparing and administering isotope agents, operating specialized equipment, and ensuring patient safety and record keeping.
Candidates must have proficiency in Nuclear Medicine technology, typically acquired through a 2-year Radiologic Technology program plus a 1-year Nuclear Medicine Technology School. Required credentials include Certification in Nuclear Medicine Technology by the ARNmT and current CPR certification, along with approximately three months of orientation experience.
Summary: Responsible for performing Nuclear Medicine and therapeutic procedures. Under the supervision of the Unit Coordinator of Nuclear Medicine, responsible for performing nuclear medicine procedures and maintaining unit on assigned shift. Employee is subject to call back and overtime as required by the hospital. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Performs diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear studies and procedures. Performs computerized nuclear cardiology procedures. Provides explanation and instruction to the patient and pertinent information to attending physicians and radiologist. Prepares and administers isotope agents to patients. Calculates amount and type of radioactive isotope needed in preparation for examinations. Operates all specialized equipment. Practices and maintains all safety regulations established or required, completes incident Maintains patient's disposition records of isotope agents. Reconciles, acquires and processes images in the PACS settings. Applies appropriate applications/functions within the Radiology Information System (RIS). Performs related responsibilities as required or directed. Contributes to a positive climate and the overall team effort of the department and maintains a "CAN DO" attitude. Performs related responsibilities as required or directed. JOB SPECIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: Skills and proficiency in the technical field of Nuclear Medicine. Such proficiency is acquired through completion of a 2-year AMA approved training program in Radiologic technology or the equivalent plus completion of a 1 year AMA approved Nuclear Medicine Technology School. LICENSURE, REGISTRATION, CERTIFICATION: Certification in Nuclear Medicine Technology by the American Registry of Nuclear Medicine Technology and CPR certified. Is proactive and insure the availability of a current license, does not let license lapse at the end of birth month. Notifies any known problems with their license immediately to the Director. EXPERIENCE: Knowledge of hospital, department and Nuclear Medicine Unit policies and procedures, equipment, record keeping and forms as acquired through 3 months of orientation.
