About the role

The Cat Scan (CT) Technician provides computed tomography imaging according to scope and standards, reviewing patient history, educating patients, and preparing/administering contrast media when ordered. They are responsible for monitoring patients, preparing equipment, performing imaging procedures, analyzing results, and reporting scan outcomes.

  • Technician who excels in this role: Provides computed tomography (CT) imaging in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice. Reviews patient history and physician’s orders. Educates patients on procedures, equipment, and exams to ensure understanding and cooperation. Prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice when ordered. Monitors patient condition and responds to changes appropriately. Prepares equipment and supplies; implements safety standards and performs quality control checks. Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions. Positions patients and performs imaging procedures. Analyzes imaging results, identifies quality issues, and takes corrective action, including repositioning patients and repeating procedures if needed. Enters, transmits, and reports scan results. Participates in performance improvement and continuing education. Provides quality patient care and works flexible shifts/units as needed. Maintains regular and reliable attendance. Requirements

Applicants must possess a two-year certification, which can be an Associate’s degree or a Baccalaureate degree, along with a current Radiation Operator Certificate in the state of practice. Required certifications include registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology in Radiology and Computed Tomography, and current BLS certification.
