Provide comprehensive healthcare services to patients in a classical hematology outpatient clinic, focusing on preventive health and the management of acute and chronic conditions. Collaborate with physicians and a multidisciplinary team to manage sickle cell disease and other hematologic conditions.
Requires a Master of Science in Nursing or a PA-C program graduate with the appropriate national certification. Must hold or be eligible for a certificate of authority to practice as an APRN or PA-C in the State of Ohio.
The APP provides health care services to patients working in collaboration with a licensed physician member of the medical staff. Healthcare services provided include care during acute and chronic phases of illness, education, and counseling of individuals and families, health promotion and prevention, and referral to other healthcare providers and community resources when appropriate
Current certificate of authority to practice as an APRN in the State of Ohio Graduate of a Nurse Practitioner program that qualifies the graduate to sit for the certification examination of a national certifying organization recognized by the Ohio Board of Nursing Master of Science Degree in Nursing 0 years of relevant experience required. 0-2 years of APP experience preferred. OR Masters Prepared; Graduate of a PA-C program that qualifies the graduate to sit for the certification examination recognized by the National Certification Commission for Physician Assistants (NCCPA). Eligibility for State of Ohio licensure as a PA-C 0 years of relevant experience required. 0-2 years of APP experience preferred. The James ambulatory hematology clinic at OSU East is a team collaborating physicians and APPs managing classical hematologic conditions (formerly known as benign hematology) including Iron deficiency anemia, bleeding and clotting disorders, myeloproliferative neoplasms, and sickle cell disease. This particular role will have a focus on general classical hematologic conditions-specifically cytopenias. There may also be some coverage of the sickle cell patient population as well.
