About the role

The Surgical Technologist provides basic care for patients during the intra-operative phase of care. They perform duties as a scrub person and recognize significant conditions and reactions, notifying the appropriate patient care team.

Surgical Technologist I: $27.26-38.48/hour Surgical Technologist II: $27.26-38.48/hour (with a 3% range adjustment) Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills, and internal equity. This is an hourly position.

Position Summary

The Surgical Tech role provides basic care for patients across the life span. Performs duties of scrub person throughout the intra-operative phase of care. Recognizes significant conditions and reactions and notifies the appropriate patient care team.

Qualifications

Required qualifications

  • Surgical
  • Tech I:
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED; requires completion of a Surgical Tech program with the ability to sit for certification OR 2 years minimum working in a Surgical Tech role.

Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years in a Surgical Technologist/Technician role if completion of a Surgical tech program has not been completed.
  • Licensure/Certification:
  • American
  • Heart
  • Association
  • CPR (BLS)
  • Other
  • Skills/Knowledge: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Solid computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft software. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to be detail oriented. Requires intra-operative orientation to learn department/unit policies, procedures and work routines; to develop competency in the use of medical equipment and instruments used in the procedure/operating room; to learn quality/safety standards; and to gain an understanding of the various types of surgical procedures within their service line.

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED; requires completion of a Surgical Tech program and Surgical Technologist Certification with a minimum of 3 years working in a Surgical Tech role OR minimum 5 years working in a Surgical Tech role.

Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years in Surgical Technologist role if certified. Minimum of 5 years in Surgical Technologist role if not certified.
  • Licensure/Certification: American Heart Association CPR (BLS), Surgical Technologist Certification or 5 years or more in a Surgical Technologist role.

Candidates for Surgical Technologist I must have a high school diploma or GED and complete a Surgical Tech program or have 2 years of experience. Surgical Technologist II candidates require certification and a minimum of 3 years of experience or 5 years without certification.
