The CSFA actively assists surgeons during procedures by providing exposure and maintaining hemostasis. They perform technical functions under the surgeon's direction without acting as the primary scrub technician.
Requires a high school diploma, graduation from an accredited First Assistant Program, and BLS certification. Candidates must have a degree in Surgical Technology or two years of surgical scrubbing experience.
Overview: This is a PRN position
The Certified Surgical First Assistant(CSFA) is a trained individual who is able to participate in and actively assist the surgeon in completing the surgical procedure safely, by providing exposure, maintaining hemostasis and serving other technical functions. The Surgical Assistant acts according to the direction provided by the Surgeon. While in the role of CSFA, the CSFA does not function concurrently as the primary scrub technician.
