The clinician will assess, screen, and counsel clients in an outpatient substance use program, working within a multi-disciplinary team to provide evidence-based individual and group counseling for substance use and co-occurring disorders. Responsibilities include developing client-driven treatment plans, managing a caseload, completing assessments, and monitoring client progress.
Applicants must possess current Georgia licensure (LAPC, LPC, LMSW, LCSW) along with at least one year of experience in substance use counseling, covering case management, outreach, prevention, education, and treatment. Required competencies include the ability to deliver evidence-based treatment groups and proficiency in computer use and multitasking.
Assesses/Screens Cases Performs biopsychosocial assessments, focusing on substance use needs. Documentation adheres to agency guidelines. Utilizes information from multiple sources to aid the development of client driven treatment plan. Assesses and documents the clients’ responses to skill-based interventions, modifies interventions within agency timelines. Utilizes specific assessment tools, such as URICA, regularly in evaluation of the client. Sound clinical judgement in the development of client goals and treatment planning. Obtains clinical supervision monthly and seeks additional supervision as necessary. Counsels Individuals, Groups, and Significant Others Creates therapeutic relationship as appropriate with clients and families/significant others. Conducts individual, family, group counseling, and educational sessions using evidence-based interventions, such as MI, CBT, DBT, or Seeking Safety Demonstrates clinical knowledge in mental health, substance use, and co-occurring disorder treatment. Demonstrates documented clinical proficiency (through education, training, or experience) in client engagement, interviewing and recording. Develops and Participates in Case Management/Care Planning Creates, communicates, and coordinates treatment plan. Demonstrates expertise in care/planning through objectives, goals, and specificity of plan. Serves as resource to staff in demonstration of up-to-date knowledge of Claratel Behavioral Health and community, regional, and state resources. Assist treatment team in problem solving regarding needed resources for clients. Ensure timely communication with providers through proper exchange of written and verbal communication per policy and procedures. Document referrals, discharges, resources, or other issues for problem resolution and or utilization as required in agency policy. May serve as a liaison on community resource activities, such as peer support meetings or legal entities. Professional Maintains certification/licensure. Actively participates in clinical supervision or consultation. Actively engages in behavioral health educational initiatives. Seeks continuing education to meet current clinical needs. SKILL, COMPETENCY AND EDUCATION AND/OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS: Current Georgia licensure (LAPC, LPC, LMSW, LCSW) with at least 1 years’ work experience in substance use counseling, including: case management, outreach, prevention, education, and treatment. Ability to provide curriculum/evidence-based treatment groups, such as the MATRIX Model, DBT, or Seeking Safety. Computer proficient and can multi-task. INTER-RELATIONSHIPS Able to professional interface with client, families, and caregivers with a recovery focused and trauma informed approach. Able to communicate effectively with coworkers at multiple sites, internal and external customers and to the public. Work effectively with a multidisciplinary team, including counselors, nurses, psychiatric providers, peers, and front desk staff. WORKING CONDITIONS Works in an outpatient substance use clinic with flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends. NEEDED ATTRIBUTES Must be well organized and client focuses with excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Ability to utilize technology efficiently and effectively. Preemployment drug screening may be required.
