The Invasive Technologist assists the medical team in performing catheterizations and angiograms by monitoring patients before, during, and after procedures, and managing supplies. Responsibilities include floating between Omaha Metro Cardiac Cath Labs, preparing patients, ensuring proper positioning, operating hemodynamic monitoring equipment, and assisting physicians with invasive device deployment.
Candidates must have graduated from an accredited school and hold ARRT and/or RCIS certifications, along with current ARRT (NE)/RCIS licensure. A minimum of one year of previous general radiologic technologist experience is required, along with prior Cardiac Cath Lab and/or Interventional Radiology Lab experience.
Float between Omaha Metro Cardiac Cath Labs, as needed (float differential applied to base rate) Effectively communicates and works cooperatively with team members, patients, families, guests, and providers. Assists with pre-procedure education and preparing patients for the procedure. ● Preparing patients for procedures: Includes checking and verifying vital signs, meds, NPO status, lab results, and medical history Monitoring patient patterns and vital signs during the procedure Collaborates with other staff to assure patients have a thorough understanding of procedure and is able to answer questions as needed. Procedure Responsibilities: Ensures the patient is positioned properly for the procedure. Ensures EKG electrodes are properly placed and cardiac electrodes correctly applied. ● Ensures skin is prepped and sterilized appropriately prior to procedural draping. ● Performs monitoring function throughout procedures. Documents clinical information in patient records. ○ Operates hemodynamic monitoring equipment. ■ Recognize and report changes in the cardiac rhythm. 1 ■ Recognize and report changes in hemodynamic waveforms. ■ Accurately documents the flow of events from start thru completion of procedure. Scrubs and assists physicians during procedures. Performs surgical scrubbing duties and assists physicians during minimally invasive, image-guided procedures, preparing equipment and maintaining a sterile field Uses fine motor skills to assist physician with the placement/deployment/use of invasive catheters, wires, balloons, stents, Intra-aortic balloon counter-pulsation equipment (IABP), implantable cardiac devices, and electrophysiology catheters X-ray equipment management and manipulation Quality Responsibilities: Daily scheduling and chart preparation for procedures Performs daily maintenance Quality assurance testing Equipment cleaning Supply re-stocking Job Requirements Education/Experience: Graduation from an accredited school: American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and/or Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) Previous general radiologic technologist experience for one year. Previous Cardiac Cath Lab and/or Interventional Radiology Lab experience License/Certification: Current licensure as a ARRT (NE)/ RCIS Basic Life Support - CPR (BLS-CPR) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 6 - months
