Seats, positions, and dismisses scheduled hygiene patients. Completes preliminary clinic forms. Reviews medical history and discuss any problems with the dentist. Provides patient education in toothbrush instruction, flossing demonstration, and any additional information as required. Performs prophylaxis, i.e. supragingival scaling, subgingival scaling, root planing, gingivalcurrettage, polishing. Takes, processes and mounts radiographs for hygiene patients as deemed necessary by the dentist Applies topical fluoride on children. Assists with first aid procedures. Maintains recall system and sends reminder letters to patients for their recall appointment. Receives and maintains updated CPR training. A dental hygienist may perform any duty delegated to the dental assistant. She may be called upon to assist if there are no hygiene patients available. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Requirements for this position include: Dental Hygiene license X-Ray Certification, Public Health License preferred.
