Practice for this role

About the role

The Women's Health Nurse Practitioner will provide full scope services including gynecologic examinations, contraceptive counseling, LARC management, prenatal and postpartum care, menopause care, and STI screening and treatment at the Leicester clinic. This role involves serving as the women's health expert to ensure patients have access to high-quality obstetric and gynecologic services while collaborating with other providers for wraparound care.

Description Appalachian Mountain Health (AMH) is in search of a highly motivated and independent women’s health practitioner to provide full scope services including gynecologic examinations, contraceptive counseling, LARC management, prenatal and postpartum care, menopause care and STI screening and treatment.

AMH is a Federally Qualified Health Center located in Western North Carolina.

Our five primary clinics, supported by mobile teams and strategic mini clinics, serve the most vulnerable patients in Asheville and the western region of the state; we provide care regardless of a patient’s ability to pay.

As a women’s health provider at our Leicester clinic, you will work collaboratively with our other providers to serve patients with wraparound care including primary care, behavioral health services, dentistry, pediatrics, and pharmacy services.

As AMH continues to grow, so too does our team of women’s health providers.

In this role, you’ll serve as the women’s health expert in our Robbinsville clinic, helping ensure our patients have access to high quality obstetric and gynecologic services.

In this role, you will serve as the sole women’s health clinician in Graham County, NC.

The closest OBGYN practice and/or hospital with a labor and delivery unit is an hour away.

For this reason, applicant must show confidence in their ability to independently provide a spectrum of women’s health services.

The ideal clinician will provide reproductive, contraceptive, preventative health, and menopausal services to an established panel of patients.

This is a collaborative role, serving as a critical link in a tight-knit team of providers at the local clinic, as well as a network of providers in the region, including Asheville, NC.

Collaborating providers include primary care, psychiatric, behavioral health, dental, pediatric, and community medicine care.

No call, hospital privileges, or rounding required.

The position includes an optional 3 month paid internship with the current provider at full compensation, making this an ideal opportunity for on-the-job training during which you will be introduced to your patient panel while learning or refining highly-sought skills such as ultrasonography, pessary management, and colposcopy.

Welcoming experienced practitioners and new graduates alike, but must have demonstrable skills in women’s healthcare and an interest in moving to the region for a minimum of two years.

Daily patient load capped at 15.

The clinic is surrounded by three lakes and is known as a motorcycle haven thanks to the “the Dragon,” an infamous mountain route boasting 318 curves in 11 miles.

The Appalachian Trail crosses the county in multiple places.

Smoky Mountain National Park, the most visited National Park in the nation with over 900 miles of trails, lines the northern and western boundaries of the region.

Background Check and Drug Screen Required.
