This role involves providing direct patient care and performing unit duties, including purposeful rounding, monitoring patient needs like pain and positioning, and promptly responding to call lights. Responsibilities also include assisting patients with meals, bathing, activities of daily living, changing linen, and monitoring vital signs and blood glucose levels within the scope of practice.
Candidates must have a High School diploma or equivalency, and while CNA certification and previous hospital or nursing home experience are preferred, on-the-job training is acceptable pending completion of the WRMC Nursing Assistant Course. Current BLS certification and a current TB test are required, though training for these can be provided.
An assistant in patient care and unit duties, delivering direct care to patients and families. Performs purposeful rounding on patients, bedside shift report, and documents on white boards. During rounding addresses the patients pain, position, pick up and restroom if needed. Monitors all call lights, responds promptly and appropriately regardless of patient assignment. Assist patients with meals, bathing, activities of daily living, complete linen change, and any other patient care measures that might be required within scope of practice. Monitor temperature, intake and output, blood pressure, heart rate, pulse oximetry, respiratory rate, and accu-checks as ordered. This is just some of the basic job functions of a Patient Care Tech or Certified Nursing Assistant.

Standing, walking, and lifting will occur for the majority of the shift. Will be lifting, pulling, and pushing patients and equipment in cooperation with other staff or alone using proper body mechanics. Must be able to lift 20 pounds. Moving, lifting, or transferring of patients may involve lifting of up to 50 pounds, as well as assist with weights of more than 100 pounds. Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
