The technologist is responsible for performing laboratory tests within established turnaround times, handling specimens according to guidelines, and accurately recording and reporting testing data. Duties also include performing quality assurance, troubleshooting instruments, managing supplies, and potentially performing phlebotomy and specimen triage.
The role requires performing all assigned tests correctly, adhering to departmental procedures, and maintaining quality control standards, including recognizing and correcting outliers. The technologist must also observe all safety policies, perform necessary maintenance, manage inventory, and interact positively with colleagues and students.
