The Emergency Department Technician II assists the emergency department patient care team by performing patient care procedures and collecting basic health information. Responsibilities include taking vital signs, initiating and discontinuing IV access, and ensuring patient comfort and safety.
Candidates must have a High School diploma or GED and relevant certifications such as BLS for healthcare providers. Preferred qualifications include at least six months of experience in a clinical healthcare environment.
The Emergency Department Technician II functions as a member of the emergency department patient care team, under supervision of the registered nurse. The Emergency Department Technician II, performs patient care procedures and assists with the collection of basic health information. The Emergency Department Technician II provides for the care, comfort, and safety of patients, including, but not limited to, taking vital signs, initiation and discontinuation of peripheral intravenous access, specimen collection, performing ECG's, post-mold application, crutch-walk teaching, spinal immobilization, basic wound care, collecting patient history and assessment information. Other duties include recording pertinent information in patient charts and communicating with other Patient Care Team members to ensure continuity of care.
