Licensed Practical Nurses are responsible for providing patient-driven care to veteran residents, which includes assessing health status, responding to requests, and administering treatments and doctor's orders according to the care plan. Incumbents must also identify urgent situations, collaborate with other personnel, and foster positive relationships with veterans and their families.
Applicants must possess a current, active license as a practical nurse under the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing and hold current CPR certification through the American Heart Association. This position is specifically for those with less than 1 year of experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse and requires the ability to follow instructions and deal tactfully with others.
This is 24 hour/7 days a week long-term care facility and as a result, the Holyoke Veterans Home may require this individual to be present during nontraditional hours when circumstances dictate the operational need. Required Qualifications Must possess a current, active license as a practical nurse under the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing. CPR certification through the American Heart Association. Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Ability to deal tactfully with others.
Certification in dementia, hospice, or other relevant discipline. Ability to establish effective relationships with individuals, families, and team members. Demonstrated attention to detail with readiness to respond appropriately when needed. Capacity to maintain accurate records and exercise discretion in handling confidential information. Skilled in the use of using a computer for completion of work assignments. EMERGENCY: This position has been deemed as an emergency personnel position. During a declared State of Emergency and in Non-Emergency situations/adverse weather, it will be necessary to report to work.
