Candidates must be a graduate of a CoARC-approved Respiratory program and hold a Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license in Pennsylvania, along with the Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from NBRC. Required clearances include Act 33, Act 34, and Act 73 FBI Clearance, plus obtaining BLS/CPR certification within 30 days of hire.
UPMC Somerset is seeking a Casual Respiratory Therapist to join our dedicated team. This position is open to Certified Respiratory Therapists (CRT) and Registered Respiratory Therapists (RRT) who are passionate about delivering exceptional care to patients with cardiopulmonary conditions. This position works variable shifts, including weekends and holiday rotations Key Responsibilities Read prescriptions, assess patient condition, and determine therapy requirements Set up and operate respiratory therapy equipment, including ventilators and aerosol generators Administer medicinal gases and aerosol drugs per physician orders Monitor patient responses and adjust treatment for optimal outcomes Perform pulmonary function tests and assist with breathing exercises Respond to emergency code situations and assist in transporting ventilated patients Maintain accurate patient charts and therapy documentation Inspect and ensure safe operation of respiratory equipment Demonstrate procedures and supervise students during training Collaborate with physicians regarding adverse reactions and treatment plans
Graduate of a Co ARC (Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care) approved Respiratory program required Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania required Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) required Respiratory therapists who receive their RRT credential from the NBRC after July 1, 2002 are required to maintain certification under the NBRC requirements Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances: Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire Osteopathic Respiratory Care OR Respiratory Care Practitioners (RCP) Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) Act 33 with renewal Act 34 with renewal Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal UPMC is an Equal Opportunity Employer/Disability/Veteran
