The physician will evaluate, interpret, and coordinate information to make decisions and recommendations regarding patient care across multiple UnityPoint hospitals remotely. Responsibilities also include managing cross coverage, handling low acuity admissions overnight, and ensuring proper documentation per guidelines.
Candidates must hold an MD or DO degree and be Board Certified in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine, requiring at least one year of bedside clinical experience as a Hospitalist. Applicants must also obtain and maintain unrestricted licenses for residency state plus Iowa, Illinois, and Wisconsin, while avoiding specified unemployable states.
Evaluates, interprets and coordinates information to make decisions and recommendations regarding patient care Patient-focused, friendly and willing to collaborate in a team environment Excellent communication (written and verbal), analytical and problem-solving skills Managing cross coverage & low acuity admissions (as needed) on overnight shift for one or more hospitals, depending on the number of beds covered. Cross cover needs, include but not limited to entering orders, calling nurses, staff, patients, or families. Helping with transfers to higher level of care if needed overnight, transfer to ICU or other floors within same facility, calling in through Vidyo to evaluate patients if needed. Documentation per CMS & TH guidelines for H&Ps, cross coverage, significant events, handoff, etc.
