Incumbents interview patients, obtain medical histories, perform examinations, order diagnostic tests, and diagnose/prescribe treatment for common illnesses under physician supervision. They also perform various screenings and educate patients about medical, social, and psychological conditions.

Per Diem employees supplement department staffing needs, with no guarantee of minimum hours.
Must be willing and available to work four (4) shifts per six (6) week scheduling period.
Incumbents in this classification have advanced training which allows them to provide primary care on both an episodic and short-term basis to defined patient populations under the supervision of a licensed physician.
Interviews patients to obtain medical histories and performs examinations.
Orders specified diagnostic tests; diagnoses and prescribes treatment for common illnesses.
Performs screenings or diagnostic procedures including, but not limited to, audiometry, breast examinations, pelvic examinations, Pap smears and tonometry.
Educates patients about common medical, social and psychological conditions.
Dependent upon area of practice or department assignments, demonstrates clinical knowledge and skill in the care of the newborn, infant, toddler, child, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient ranging up to 100+ years of age
Completion of an approved educational program for Nurse Practitioners.
Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of California which specifies that the individual is a licensed as a Nurse Practitioner or Nurse Midwife, OR, possession of a valid certificate issued by the Board of Registered Nursing authorizing use of the title Nurse Practitioner.
Possess a current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) card at time of hire. As a continued condition of employment, employee must maintain RQI Provider certification and competency.
Communicate with physicians, patients and other health professionals.
Follow established procedures and protocols.
