The Medical Lab Tech performs a wide range of laboratory procedures utilizing both manual and automated techniques. They are expected to exercise significant independent judgment when conducting tests and reporting results.
A minimum requirement is an Associate's Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology, Biological Sciences, Chemistry, or Life Sciences with 26 science credits and relevant CLIA laboratory experience, or equivalent military training. One year of experience in a relevant laboratory section is required, with preferred certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology.
Performs a wide variety of laboratory procedures using both manual and automated methods. Is expected to show a considerable degree of independent judgement regarding the performance and reporting of results. Actively participates in the quality improvement activities of the laboratory.
Education Associate's Degree Medical Laboratory Technology, Biological Sciences, Chemistry, or Life Sciences with 26 science credits with appropriate experience in a CLIA laboratory, or Military Training Program (An official U.S. Military medical laboratory procedures training course and that the applicant has held the military enlisted occupational specialty of Medical Laboratory Specialist - Laboratory Technician.)
