The Physical Therapist is responsible for thoroughly documenting evaluations, daily progress notes reflecting patient response to treatment, and comprehensive discharge summaries according to department policy. This role also involves contacting relevant parties and providing appropriate educational materials to patients and families to facilitate effective treatment plans.
Requirements summary
Candidates must possess a minimum of a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy, with a Master's degree preferred, and hold a current Virginia Physical Therapist license in good standing. BLS/CPR certification from the American Heart Association is mandatory upon starting, though prior experience is not required.
Inova Alexandria Hospital is looking for a Physical Therapist (PT) to join our Acute Care team.

Physical Therapist PRN Job Responsibilities: Documents the results of evaluations clearly and completely by including all essential elements according to department policy.
Completes daily progress notes that reflect patients' responses to treatment, actual performance, and an assessment as to status relevant to the treatment plan in addition to eventual discharge needs and treatment summaries if needed.
Completes discharge notes that include a summary of the course of treatment, progress toward goals, discharge needs, recommendations for follow-up and patient and/or family education.
Documents clearly, concisely and legibly within established timeframes (e.g. allow other therapists to continue treatment, allow for interpretation by payers, supports reimbursements).
Documents evidence of patient and family/caregiver education.
Contacts families, physicians or other healthcare team members in anticipation of special needs of the patients or families in a timely manner to facilitate effective treatment plans.
May perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy Licensure: Virginia Physical Therapist License or Physical Therapist compact privileges required upon start Certification: BLS from the American Heart Association required upon start.
Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree preferred Experience working as a Physical Therapist in an acute care setting
