The primary role involves coding diagnoses and procedures for inpatient records and abstracting necessary information for reimbursement, research, and statistical data generation at designated facilities. This role also requires serving as a resource to various clinical and administrative staff members.
Candidates must possess skill in clear and effective written and verbal communication using standard English, along with legible handwriting for accurate record keeping. A minimum of two years of experience coding inpatient records using ICD-CM and CPT in an acute care setting is required, with four years preferred.
