The Medical Records Clerk is primarily responsible for managing and maintaining patient medical records, which involves preparing, storing, retrieving, and reviewing documents to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulations like HIPAA. Duties also include scanning paper records into the EHR, processing release of information requests, and performing general clerical support tasks.
Candidates must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of one year of experience in a medical office or healthcare setting. Preferred qualifications include training in an accredited medical records program or experience with an established medical records system, alongside strong organizational and confidentiality skills.
