About the role

The technologist operates radiology equipment and performs routine diagnostic procedures as prescribed by physicians to aid in diagnosis or treatment. Key duties include executing radiologic procedures safely, selecting appropriate settings, developing treatment plans, and maintaining equipment and work areas.

Job Summary

Operates radiology equipment and performs routine diagnostic procedures as prescribed by physicians according to established standards and practices in order to aid in the diagnosis and/or treatment of disease.

Responsibilities

  • Performs radiologic procedures using appropriate technical and safety method as requested by a licensed physician.
  • Exercise judgement in selecting and computing settings for each patient.
  • Develop an appropriate procedure/treatment plan.
  • Implements procedure/treatment plan utilizing established hospital protocols/guidelines.
  • Completes documentation as required to comply with hospital policies and procedures.
  • Maintains equipment, procedure/treatment rooms, and work areas in a neat and safe condition to ensure the safety of patients and staff.
  • Participates in hospital and departmental performance improvement activities to ensure that patient care is consistent with established standards. Collects quality data for monitoring performance improvement.
  • Completes assigned goals.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Minimum Required
  • Experience as obtained through the completion of a Radiology Technology Program.

Preferred/Desired

Education

  • Minimum Required
  • Completion of a formal education program in radiography accredited by a mechanism acceptable to ARRT. Registered by American Registry of Radiologic Technologists with current Registry in Radiography ARRT(R) or new graduate who is waiting to take the registry.

  • Demonstrates a thorough understanding of Radiologic principals/theory. Utilizes the most appropriate technique and positioning for optimal procedures/treatments as demonstrated by procedure/treatment results.

Licensure

  • Minimum Required
  • ARRT(R); BLS Certification within 14 days of hire. New graduate who will obtain required registry within 120 days of hire. State license as required.

Minimum requirements include completion of a Radiology Technology Program and obtaining ARRT(R) registration or being a new graduate awaiting the registry, along with BLS Certification within 14 days of hire.
