The role involves collaborating with nurses and physicians using Respiratory Therapist (RT)-driven protocols to deliver exceptional care, utilizing advanced practices like esophageal balloon-guided ventilation and advanced ventilator strategies. Therapists are expected to use all available tools, such as APRV and Volumetric Diffusive Respiration, supported by a proactive departmental approach.
Candidates must possess an Associate's or Bachelor's degree, or meet specific non-degreed criteria if RRT credentials were obtained before January 1, 2006, or are a graduate of a military RT program. Required credentials include a State Respiratory license and BLS certification at hire, with new graduates needing to obtain NBRC RRT within six months.
