The Certified Medication Aide (CMA) is responsible for safely and accurately administering prescribed medications to residents in a nursing home under licensed nursing staff supervision. This includes verifying identities, monitoring for adverse reactions, and accurately documenting all medication administration and inventory management.
Candidates must have a High School diploma or equivalent and completion of a Certified Medication Aide program, along with meeting any necessary state-specific requirements. Additional requirements include effective communication skills and providing proof of a valid driver's license and auto liability insurance if driving is required for assignments.
