The Staff Psychiatrist conducts initial psychiatric assessments and provides ongoing supervision of clients on medications. They also approve treatment plans and discharge plans, ensuring quality of care standards.
Candidates must have a valid Physician and Surgeon license from the Medical Board of California and complete the required psychiatric education. Experience in a psychiatric healthcare environment is preferred, along with strong organizational and communication skills.
Under the direct supervision of the Medical Director, the Staff Psychiatrist is responsible for providing initial psychiatric assessments, medical consultations and evaluations, approves the service plans for persons with severe and persistently disabling mental disorders; prescribes medications when client’s symptomatology is assessed to be severe and debilitating, and /or when the risk of decompensating is heightened without such action. May be assigned to a 24-hour acute inpatient hospital setting or an outpatient program as needed.
