Surgical Technologists play an essential role in the operating room, working alongside surgeons and registered nurses to help deliver safe, high-quality patient care before, during and after surgical procedures. In this hands-on role, you will prepare sterile instruments and equipment, set up surgical tables, assist during procedures by passing instruments to the surgeon, and support the cleaning and sterilization process following surgery. Your attention to detail and ability to anticipate the needs of the surgical team help ensure efficient, seamless operative care.
This position offers an exciting opportunity to build valuable experience in a fast-paced surgical environment while making a meaningful impact on patients and caregivers every day. As a vital member of the OR team, your support is critical to the success of each procedure. Caregivers must be able to float to Hillcrest Hospital as needed.
This caregiver role is a day shift position with required on-call coverage.
00am - 3:30pm
The part-time position will be 2x10 0700-1530 with prescheduled designated lates (pre-determined days that in the event surgery runs later than anticipated the caregiver stays until staffing is safe).
Perform scrub functions and assist in circulating functions under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN).
Set up the sterile table and ensure appropriate supplies, drugs and equipment are available.
Assists RN in counting all sponges, instruments, etc. at appropriate times during surgery.
Assist in gowning and gloving surgical team members and draping patients.
Ensure aseptic condition is maintained by the scrubbed surgical team through the procedure.
Participate in the intraoperative “timeout.”
Collect, identify and label specimens removed during surgical procedures and gives specimens to circulator for disposition.
• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
