The CRNA provides anesthetic care for all patients in cooperation with the supervising physician, following departmental standards and hospital policies. Responsibilities include administering anesthesia, monitoring patient reactions to sedatives, and reporting adverse conditions to the anesthesiologist.
Candidates must be graduates of an accredited nurse anesthesia education program and possess current licensure as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania. Required certifications include being Board Certified/Eligible by the Council on Certification of Nurse Anesthetists, and current CPR/BLS certification.
The CRNA provides anesthetic care for all patients in cooperation with the supervising physician, following Department of Anesthesiology standards and hospital policies. They administer anesthesia, monitor patients' reactions to sedatives and anesthetic agents, and inform the anesthesiologist of any adverse conditions that may threaten patient safety.
Administer anesthesia and related care, including pre-anesthetic preparation, induction, maintenance, emergence, post-anesthesia care, and peri-anesthesia support. Assumes responsibility and is accountable for controlled substances according to department and hospital policy and State and federal guidelines Assists with the teaching and evaluation of newly hired CRNAs, GRNAs, and SRNAs. Performs according to established policies, procedures, and regulatory standards. Review appropriate documentation for informed consent and identify appropriate surgical site with operating room staff and surgeon in accordance with departmental and regulatory compliance standards Participate in the Quality Improvement (QI) process through documentation, incident reporting, evaluation, education, and implementation.
