The Medical Assistant performs various patient care tasks and uses non-professional skills to assist the physician in an outpatient setting, working under the supervision of a licensed nurse or physician. This role involves performing delegated patient care procedures and facilitating necessary registration, documentation for billing, and location-specific clerical duties.
A High School diploma or GED is required, along with Medical Assistant certification or equivalent education and experience, and current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers. Preferred qualifications include two years of physician office experience and active regional or national Medical Assistant certification.
