The per diem Midwife is responsible for the primary care and management of patient health, encompassing both obstetric and gynecological care, including managing both low risk and high-risk pregnancies according to practice guidelines. This role also involves developing and supporting excellence in clinical practice and patient care while upholding the mission and policies of Maternal Child Health Services and the Medical Center.
Candidates must demonstrate clinical experience related to obstetrics and the care of women and children, and must have evidence of completing a Pharmacology course with authorization to issue prescriptions per NYS Education Law. Required certifications include CNM license, Basic Life Saver (BCLS), NRP (for L&D/NICU), and ACLS (for various specified units). A Master's degree in nursing is preferred.
