The Nurse Practitioner will conduct thorough musculoskeletal and neurological assessments, interpret diagnostic imaging, and collaborate with orthopedic surgeons on surgical planning and patient management. Responsibilities also include managing pre- and post-operative care, monitoring patients in various settings, and coordinating multidisciplinary care.

Working with an orthopedic surgeon in clinic and in OR. 3 mid levels supporting 4 physicians Daytime hours but call is required 4 day work week available
The Orthopedic Surgery Nurse Practitioner provides advanced nursing care for patients with musculoskeletal conditions requiring surgical intervention. The NP works collaboratively with orthopedic surgeons, physical therapists, and other healthcare professionals to evaluate, treat, and manage patients pre- and post-operatively, ensuring optimal functional recovery.
Conduct thorough musculoskeletal and neurological assessments of patients with orthopedic surgical needs.
Order, review, and interpret diagnostic imaging such as X-rays, MRIs, CT scans, and labs.
Collaborate with orthopedic surgeons in surgical planning and patient management.
Provide preoperative preparation including patient education, risk assessment, and optimization.
Manage postoperative care including wound care, pain management, mobility plans, and complication monitoring.
Monitor patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
Coordinate multidisciplinary care with physical therapy, occupational therapy, and pain management teams.
Educate patients and families on diagnosis, treatment plans, rehabilitation, and injury prevention.
Document clinical findings, interventions, and progress accurately in electronic medical records.
Participate in clinical research, quality improvement, and patient safety initiatives.
Master’s or Doctorate degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program. If APRN was licensed prior to August 1, 1995, master's degree in nursing is preferred.
Experience in orthopedic surgery, trauma, or musculoskeletal care preferred.

Candidates must possess a Master’s or Doctorate degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program, along with current RN and NP licensure and a DEA permit in the state of practice. Experience in orthopedic surgery, trauma, or musculoskeletal care is preferred, and national board certification is required.
