About the role

The Phlebotomist will be responsible for accurately drawing blood from patients, preparing specimens for laboratory testing, and ensuring timely sample collection. Key duties include greeting patients, verifying histories, explaining procedures, and maintaining sanitary work areas.

We are currently seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to join our team and contribute to our mission of improving the health and well-being of our community.

The Phlebotomist will be responsible for drawing blood from patients, preparing specimens for laboratory testing, and ensuring accurate and timely collection of samples.

The successful candidate will have a strong attention to detail and excellent patient communication skills.

Prior experience as a Phlebotomist is preferred.

Key Responsibilities: Greet and welcome patients Verify patients’ medical histories Preparing patients before drawing blood Explaining blood draw procedures to patients and answering any questions about the process Following all health and safety protocols and procedures to maintain sanitary work areas Identifying the best needle sized and location for each blood draw Ensuring the correct use of collection tubes and containers for the requested lab work Proficient in blood sampling techniques and procedures Gathering medical testing materials, including needles, sample vials, blood storage bags and test tubes Verifying patient information and labeling blood samples properly Accurately updating patient information in the organization’s database Helping nervous or frightened patients remain calm during blood draws Working with supervising Physicians and always following their directions Analyzing blood specimens using the correct testing equipment, when necessary Cleaning, maintaining, and calibrating laboratory equipment used in the drawing and testing of blood specimens Restocking the lab and ordering supplies Perform routine in office test including but not limited to Glucose testing, Strep and Flu test, Urinalysis, EKG, TB Skin test, Remote patient monitoring setup, ect.

Minimum 1 year of work experience in a medical facility Phlebotomist certification preferred Knowledge of OSHA standards and medical laws and ethics Excellent dexterity and able to remain focused at all times Detail-oriented and strong organizational skills Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written Strong interpersonal skills Full time (36-40 hour week) Pay is negotiable

Requirements

Candidates must possess a minimum of one year of work experience in a medical facility and demonstrate excellent dexterity, focus, strong organizational skills, and excellent verbal and written communication abilities. Phlebotomist certification is preferred.
