The Registered Nurse provides direct nursing care to patients utilizing the nursing process and established standards of practice, maintaining overall accountability for assigned patients. The RN is expected to perform all staff nurse activities and may function as a charge nurse when assigned.
Candidates must be licensed to practice nursing in Florida and hold current BLS certification; ACLS certification requirements vary by department or time of hire. A minimum of less than one year of related experience is required, though an Associate's Degree from an accredited nursing school is the minimum education, with a BSN required within three years for new hires effective after June 14, 2017.
The Registered Nurse (RN) provides nursing care to patients utilizing the nursing process and standards of practice for a professional nurse. The RN is expected to perform all staff nurse activities and function as charge nurse when assigned. The RN maintains overall accountability/responsibility for assigned patients, even though some activities/tasks may be delegated to Technical Nurses, Patient Care Associates, and/or Sitters. Assignments are performed appropriately to age and developmental level of patients being served.
