The Maternal Health Nurse provides nursing home-based services including case management, education, support, and anticipatory guidance to military families expecting a child or with children under three, focusing on preventing family maltreatment. Daily duties involve educating families on infant/toddler care, providing home visitation services, conducting community interventions, and collaborating with various service agencies.
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited institution. Required experience includes two years within the last four years as a Community Health Nurse and/or Maternal Child Health nursing, or direct experience in child or domestic abuse, with in-home visitation experience being a plus.
ABSS Solutions, Inc. is a provider of full-time contract positions in support of the US Air Forces Family Advocacy Program at Military Treatment Facilities located outside of the Continental United States. We have been a provider of these critical services and personnel for over four years and are looking for qualified and dedicated mental health professionals to add to the team.
We are currently accepting applications from Registered Nurse (RN) candidates with experience in Maternal/Public Health to fill the role of the Family Advocacy Nurse (FAN) at multiple military installations in Alaska, Japan, and South Korea. The Maternal/Public Health Nurse will support the Air Force New Parent Support Program which is part of the Family Advocacy Program designed to address Family Maltreatment. The New Parent Support Program is a home visitation maltreatment prevention program for Air force families expecting a child and/or with a child under the age of three, in collaboration with Family Advocacy team members.
The Maternal Nurse (FAN) provides nursing home-based services to families that include case management, education, support, and anticipatory guidance in such areas as growth and development across the life span, nutrition, parenting, attachment/bonding, individual and family health related issues, family violence dynamics, problem solving, family communication skills and bereavement. The FAN provides prevention services focused on prevention of family maltreatment via briefings, and educational presentations. Provide supportive services and guidance in couples' communication, parenting education, parent-child interaction, bonding, and problem solving skills.
In addition the FAN is responsible for advocacy services with community organization for military families and promote the effectiveness of community.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited institution
Two years’ experience (within the last four years) as a Community Health Nurse and/or Maternal Child Health nursing, or direct experience in child abuse and/or domestic abuse. In-home visitation experience is a plus
