About the role

The Registered Nurse will perform professional functions including assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care, and will also function as a Scrub Technician when required. This role involves coordinating, managing, providing, and delegating patient care while adhering to established Standards of Nursing Practice.

Located in Templeton amongst the oak trees, Adventist Health Twin Cities has been serving northern San Luis Obispo County since 1977.

Comprised of a 122-bed acute care facility, our team provides exceptional care in emergency medicine, orthopedics, obstetrics, digestive disorders, wound care, and various medical, surgical and outpatient services.

Locals enjoy weekly farmers markets in downtown Templeton, farm-to-fork dining, beautiful landscapes for hiking and biking, and beach days just fifteen minutes away at Cambria and Morro Bay.

Job Summary: Perform the professional functions of a Registered Nurse in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the care of patients.

Functions as Scrub Technician when needed.

Coordinate, manage, provide and delegate patient care.

Responsible for meeting the established Standards of Nursing Practice, and promoting cooperation among the health care team.

This position is represented by CNA.

Job Requirements: Education and Work Experience: Graduate of a school of nursing: Required Six or more months of relevant OR experience: Required Licenses/Certifications: Current RN license in state of practice: Required Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Required Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Required within 3 months of hire Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Required within 3 months of hire Registered Nurse (RN) license in state of practice: Required Facility Specific License/Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Required AHA-PALS or ARC-PALS: Required AHA-ACLS or ARC-ALS: Required Essential Functions: Assures patients' personal needs are met.

Assist in reducing noise level of nursing unit.

Participates in Lean Daily Management practices.

Shows a commitment to co-workers.

Works as a team to assure all patients have their needs met.

Maintains patient, co-worker, and hospital privacy.

Documentation is clear, concise, and legible.

Delivers a clear, concise report.

Completes assigned quality monitors as directed by department manager.

Follows infection control guidelines.

Obtains history/physical assessment according to unit specific nursing protocol for all age groups.

Reviews medical history, physical examination, and all available assessment data.

Identifies abnormal diagnostic data and reports to appropriate person.

Provides information needed to begin discharge planning in a timely manner, and to the appropriate personnel.

Recognizes signs and symptoms of cardiac or respiratory distress, or other impending emergencies.

Demonstrates knowledge and ability to effectively function in Code Blue and other emergency situations.

Accurately administers and charts medications according to hospital policies and procedures adhering to patient's rights.

Implements and /or assists others in implementation and documentation of planned education.

Assesses patient's educational needs.

Assist in the development and education of new staff members.

Attends and participates in staff meetings.

Completes education, training, and competencies for department specific skills.

Successfully adapts to changes in the unit, environment, and work flow.

Assures all patient charge items are charged and documented correctly.

Utilizes department resources appropriately.

Minimizes incidental overtime.

Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Candidates must be a graduate of a school of nursing and possess six or more months of relevant Operating Room experience. Required certifications include a current RN license and BLS, with ACLS and PALS certifications required within three months of hire.
