About the role

Operate and maintain x-ray machines to produce quality images while ensuring proper patient positioning and shielding. Assist the healthcare team in the clinic and manage patient escorting and equipment sanitization.

Sportsmed orthopedic is seeking an experienced x-Ray tech to join our madison, al clinic. The ideal candidate would have at least 2 years of clinical x-Ray experience.

X-Ray tech duties/Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain x-ray machines
  • Determine individual technique for ordered examination and position patient properly
  • Perform procedure by verbally confirming with the patient before beginning a procedure
  • Properly shield patients for all examinations
  • Produce quality x-rays with correct Patient ID and markings
  • Escort patients from lobby to treatment rooms, x-ray waiting, brace shop, etc.
  • Assists providers’ healthcare team in clinic as needed
  • Maintains wheelchairs, including proper maintenance and sanitization

Required skills/Abilities

  • Ability to project a professional image at all times
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong computer skills
  • Detail oriented with above average organizational skills

Education and experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Current/active radiology tech license required
  • Knowledge of radiologic standards, requirements and regulations
  • Thorough knowledge of orthopedic terminology and anatomy

Physical requirements

  • Frequent standing, walking, grasping, carrying, reaching, bending, and stooping
  • Lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling up to 50 pounds or greater
  • Exposure to radiation which is minimized by the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and monitored by radiation badges
