About the role

The Paramedic performs patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse or Physician, which includes technical skills such as phlebotomy, peripheral IV catheter placement, and IV therapy initiation. Responsibilities also involve collaborating with the RN on the plan of care, reporting intervention effectiveness, and communicating with patients, families, and the healthcare team.

Performs patient care under the direction of and as assigned by the Registered Nurse and/or Physician. Performs technical skills to include phlebotomy, peripheral IV catheter placement and IV therapy initiation.

Responsibilities

  • and Essential Job Functions
  • Assists with appropriate patient care as delegated by Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Collaborates with RN to modify plan of care.
  • Performs intervention delegated by RN.
  • Reports observations regarding effectiveness of intervention to RN.
  • Communicates effectively with patient, family, physicians, and health care team.
  • Applies safety and infection control measures.
  • Performs phlebotomy duties.
  • Peripheral IV catheter placement.
  • IV Therapy initiation.
  • Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

  • Required Education and Experience
  • High School Graduate or GED, OR equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Preferred Education and Experience
  • Six (6) months' EMT experience.
  • Required Licensure and Certification
  • Current Missouri Paramedic or Community Paramedicine license.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS or BCLS) - American Heart Association (AHA) upon Hire
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - American Heart Association (AHA) within 90 Days
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - American Heart Association (AHA) within 90 Days

Requirements

Candidates must possess a High School Diploma or GED, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, along with a current Missouri Paramedic or Community Paramedicine license. Required certifications include BLS upon hire, and ACLS and PALS within 90 days.
