The Ophthalmic Assistant will be responsible for greeting, preparing, and performing comprehensive ophthalmic workups on patients, as well as assisting providers with exams and in-office procedures. Key duties also include accurate EHR documentation, patient communication, scheduling services, and maintaining clinical supplies and safety standards.
Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent, with 1-2+ years of experience in Ophthalmology or Optometry being preferred. Strong patient communication and teamwork skills are essential, and certification such as COA/COT is preferred, though the employer supports obtaining certifications.
ICA‑accredited training or IJCAHPO/AAO independent study program. COA or COT certification (required for COA/COT roles). BLS certification preferred. Dependable to travel between sites when needed.
