This position is responsible for the continuous monitoring, interpretation, communication, and documentation of cardiac rhythms and rhythm components, performed either directly on a nursing unit or remotely from a central unit. Key duties include interpreting rhythms, notifying nursing staff of variances, maintaining monitoring equipment, and troubleshooting technical issues.
Candidates must demonstrate knowledge of cardiac rhythm interpretation, which requires completing a 4-hour class, passing an accompanying exam, and completing 40 hours of training with a qualified monitor tech. A minimum of six months of experience is required, along with maintaining competency in Basic Life Support (BLS) and passing a cardiac rhythm interpretation test.
