Designs, organizes and delivers massage therapy to improve clients’ physical health by relieving stress, pain, muscle tension and other discomforts. Works towards increasing flexibility and mobility for clients.
Collects clients' clinical information and contraindications.
Designs appropriate massage programs considering health conditions.
Assesses clients' tissue lesions and applies various massage methods to relieve discomfort and satisfy clients' specific needs and goals.
Communicates with clients during massage therapy sessions about the pace, location and strength of exerted pressure on tissues.
Answers client inquiries.
Organizes and maintains a clean, safe and professional environment for massage therapy.
Educates clients on accurate daily body movement and exercises.
Depending on location and client population, works as patient/resident access representative, checking clients in and out.
Additionally, managing client payments, running payment processes.
Schooling through an accredited massage therapy program required. High school diploma or the equivalent required.
Dependent on patient/client population and location of therapist, a healthcare background is preferred.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 60 days of employment, recertification as required. Depending on department and location, candidates may need to pass the MBLEx examination for national massage therapy board certification, preferably within 6 months of hire.
