This position involves providing healthcare to patients within the clinic, which includes performing examinations, obtaining histories, assessing health status, ordering/interpreting tests, prescribing medications, and educating patients on treatments and preventative measures. The role also requires documenting care in the EHR, coordinating specialty referrals, and consulting with physicians on complex cases while maintaining strict confidentiality.
Candidates must have successfully completed an approved nurse practitioner or accredited physician assistant program and possess 1-2 years of clinical experience. Essential requirements include knowledge of the medical model, patient assessment techniques, diagnosing and treating medical problems, and the ability to collaborate effectively with physicians and react calmly in emergencies.
Performs examinations, obtains complete medical histories, and assess health status. Documents patient information and care in EHR. Orders and interprets laboratory and diagnostic tests and procedures. Prescribes medications and treats illnesses. Instructs patient/family regarding medications and treatments. Educates patients regarding medical conditions, treatments, medications, and preventative measures as necessary. Coordinates appropriate specialty referrals. Consults with or refers more complicated medical cases to physicians as needed. Maintains strict confidentiality, and adheres to HIPAA guidelines and regulations. Performs other duties as assigned.
Successful completion of approved nurse practitioner or accredited physician assistant program.
Normal office and exam room environment. The position requires the ability to work under pressure and with a diverse population, including staff, physicians, clients, patients, insurance companies, labs, hospitals, and other members of the public on a regular basis. The position may cause exposure to communicable diseases, bodily fluids, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations, and other conditions common to a clinical environment.
